Back in Quebec August 1st

Our highway travels took us past a curious road sign that made me smile.  Then I had to Google it!  Lol.. 

Here's what I found out...

Saint Louis du Ha! Ha!, is the only town in the world with two exclamation points in its name.  The town was founded in the mid 1800s as a Roman Catholic mission.  The name is thought to be derived from the archaic French word " ha-ha", which refers to an unexpected  obstacle or end of a path.  If this is true, the obstacle here is Lake Temiscouata.  Louis is believed to refer to one of the towns founders. Before my search  I imagined it might stand for, a former missionary named Louis, who loved to laugh!
