Kingston, Ontario August 6th

Whew, scorcher day again!!  Plus 31 before noon and 75% humidity.

Off to town to explore and we came across a speed boat poker challenge.      It's a big annual event here and racers come from far and wide.   The red boat pictured is last year's world speed boat champion.  That boat has two helicopter engines in it.  Wish I could post how it sounded...real high pitched whine.

After we saw a few boats head out to the race site we continued exploring Kingston.  In and out of many shops, just to steal a cool moment from their air-conditioning!  Wow it's hard to trudge for miles in that heat!  Snapped a pic of sunflowers in a pail at an outdoor market, and another beautiful stone church.

After the downtown hot stroll workout, we drove to the penitentiary museum.  Some terrible stuff happened in that place before it closed! There was one room dedicated to art and woodworking done by the inmates however, and I included one example here.  Hope you can zoom to read the scroll and amazing ship, made with minimal tools and materials.  Inspiring!
