Finally in New Brunswick! Staying at a family run campground in Grand Falls. Nice place but you can see it's age. The owner is getting on in years and the past two have not been kind, as we all know. It's a huge property and small saw mill that he runs, or shall I say, tries to keep up with. Very pretty just the same.
Grand Falls has lots of history too. The first Falls water power plant opened in 1928. Today we got to zipline over them, good fun!!
It's potato 🥔 country here also, and one of the McCain factories is here. Lots of potato farms here!
AND.....Most of us know the famous horse Secretariat, that won the triple crown in 1973......but who knew that her famous Jockey was born and raised 5 mins from here, in Grand Falls! So cool. Just 5 short years later that amazing jockey, Ron Turcotte took a tumble at the Belmont and became a quadriplegic. 😞 He continued being an active inspiration for riders all over the world, and now in his 80's still lives here in Grand Falls. 😀
Tomorrow we are driving to McNamee, NB to visit my childhood friend Nancy and her husband Clarke. No internet out on their family homestead, so no blog for a few days. Hugs B & D 🌞
Very good pictures of the two of you in your zip line harnesses, must have been an exciting time. Pictures of the falls look great. So glad you are getting to see all these new places.
