Went on a little excursion today, about 45 minutes east of our campsite at the KOA Thunder Bay. It is a working mine. They give you a quick 10 min talk, then let you go picking through their discard piles for raw amethyst stones and quartz. It's $10 per person to get in and $4 per pound that you take out. We paid $28 for our rocks. Very interesting and fun time 😀 They had some beautiful large pieces for your garden on sale also, but darn, no room in the trailer and we still have so far to go. Good for the locals though! We noticed at least 30 large amethyst stones worked into the mini golf landscape here, so nice!
